How to choose the right drive
You only need four values: door type (sectional/swing), clear width × clear height, approximate door weight and desired operation (handheld transmitter, button, app).
1) Check the gate
- Sectional door or up-and-over door ?
- Is there a side door ? (important for emergency unlocking)
- Is there space on the ceiling and lintel for a rail?
2) Select performance
Rule of thumb: The larger/heavier the door, the greater the tensile/compressive force (N). For many standard sectional doors, 600–800 N is sufficient. Heavy doors require 1,000–1,100 N.

Selecting the correct rail lengths
The rail is based on the door height (clearance). Select the appropriate option for the product – here's the guide:
High‑Line LM rails (TLH)
- TLH ≤ 2125 mm
- TLH ≤ 2634 mm
- TLH ≤ 2918 mm
- TLH ≤ 3259 mm
- TLH ≤ 3618 mm
Can be selected directly as a variant in the product “LM‑10”.
Marantec SZ rails
- SZ11 – Sectional doors up to 2.25 m / Up-and-over doors up to 2.5 m
- SZ12 – Sectional doors up to 2.5 m / Up-and-over doors up to 2.75 m
- SZ13 – Sectional doors up to 3.25 m / Up-and-over doors up to 3.5 m
Note on width & weight
The width (e.g., 5.5 m) and door weight (e.g., 185–220 kg) also limit the selection. Marantec clearly states these limits on the product page, depending on the model.

Practical examples (short & realistic)
“Standard sectional door”
Approx. 2.50 × 2.125 m (~5.3 m²), insulated. Recommended load: 600–800 N, e.g., LM‑8 or Select‑Line 8. Select rail according to door height.
“Wide swing gate”
Approximately 5 m wide, heavy leaf. Recommended: Marantec 1,100 N (up to 220 kg) and matching SZ track.

What pulling force (N) do I need?
Based on the door area and weight. Up to approximately 8 m²/100 kg, 600–800 N is sufficient; above that, 1,000–1,100 N is sufficient. Always check the limit values on the product page.
Which rail is the right one?
For High-Line LM, select the TLH variant in the product; for Marantec, select SZ11/12/13 according to the door height. (See tables above.)
Does app control work?
