Choosing the right track means faster installation, quieter operation – and reduced wear and tear on the drive. Here's the practical guide from Tormeister 24: measure, select, install. No guesswork required.
1️⃣ Why the rail is so important
The track transmits the power – and determines how smoothly the drive runs. If the length matches the gate height, the soft-start/soft-stop function works perfectly, vibrations are kept out, and the motor operates within its optimal range. The result: less noise, less wear, and a longer lifespan .
2️⃣ Measure correctly in 3 steps
Measure from the floor to the bottom edge of the lintel (clear opening). This height determines the minimum rail length.
Sectional door: standard, low-headroom, or tension spring fitting? Swing door? The fitting changes the maximum permissible door height per track.
Check: ceiling height, lamps, steel beams. The track must run freely without any emergency bends.

4️⃣ Common mistakes – and how to avoid them
The carriage reaches the end position too early → gate does not open completely. Solution: switch to the correct TLH level (see table).
With low headroom, the permissible heights are smaller. Always consider the hardware; use a measurement sheet if necessary.
Without a side door, an external emergency release is mandatory – otherwise you'll be locked out of your garage in the event of a power outage.
Private rails in underground parking garages? It's better to choose an industrial rail unit for higher loads and mileage.

Suspensions free of tension, carriages running smoothly, end positions taught in cleanly.
Clean and lightly grease the rail and roller track. Seal any gaps if necessary (to reduce resonance and drafts).
