Ordering help: Measure and select your sectional garage door correctly
Briefly and clearly explained – with direct links to all models in this collection.
How to measure correctly: “clear width” & “clear height”
Clear width (LB)
The clear width is the free passage width between the finished inner edges of the side reveals (wall to wall) – in millimeters.
- Measure 3 times: bottom, middle, top – use the smallest value.
- Pay attention to chippings, plaster edges and cables.
Clear height (LH)
You measure the clear height from the finished floor (top edge of the flooring) to the bottom edge of the lintel (top edge of the wall above the opening).
- Measure 3 times: left, middle, right – use the smallest value.
- Take into account the planned floor covering (e.g. tiles).
Tip: Standard installation takes place behind the opening (rear stop). The frame sits on the side stops, and the door requires a clear headroom area at the top.
Minimum dimensions for side stop & lintel
| component | minimum | Notice |
|---|---|---|
| Side stop left | 85 mm | Solid base for frame/guide rail. |
| Side stop right | 85 mm | Symmetrical to the left stop. |
| Lintel (over opening) | 100 mm | Free space for track and fittings. |
| Addition for dark gate (south/strong sun) | +50 mm camber | Take heat influence into account (material expansion, safe guidance). |
If the minimum dimensions are tight: Please use our measurement sheet and quickly coordinate – there are fitting variants for special installation situations.

FAQ
How do I find my order size?
Measure LB & LH as described above. Check that the side stop and headroom meet the minimum dimensions. Then select the appropriate standard size on the product page. If there are any deviations, please send the measurement sheet .
What are “side stops”?
These are the solid wall areas to the left/right of the opening on which the frames or guide rails are mounted.
Why do I need more lintel for dark gates?
Dark surfaces heat up more quickly in direct sunlight. A larger camber gives the track thermal clearance and ensures smooth running.
Install it yourself or have it installed?
With some DIY experience, self-assembly is possible – assembly videos and instructions are available for assistance. Upon request, we can connect you with a specialist contractor.
Which surface suits my house?
SATIN Plano is modern and smooth, Woodgrain showcases wood grain, Design‑Line adds accents, and Stucco Colore offers bold colors. Samples and images can be found on the product pages.
